Just wondering which C++ version have you used in your youtube tutorial. My universty bacsically focuses on c++ 11 . SO just wanted to know if i am on the right track as I am learning c++ from your youtube videos. Thank you!

If you are trying to follow his videos use codeblocks. It's free and Bucky walks you through the installation.
I was at FSU learning comp sci using visual studio C++. for some reason their site is down but here is another link to download the software: http://sourceforge.net/projects/codeblocks/

Don't use Codeblocks on Mac. Use XCode.

I prefer Code::Blocks to Xcode :-)
For this level of programming, C++11 has no or little impact - the tutorials are fine :-)

Most of the answers have been answering which IDE you should be using, not the C++ version. You should be able to use any IDE, it just depends on which one you like best.
As Scott said with beginner material the version of C++ won't matter too much, so don't worry about that.
Used in many types of software including music players, video games, and many large scale applications.
