0 Macario Lopez · April 5, 2015
I have installed the JDK and I have downloaded eclipse.

Byt when I try to run eclipse, I get a weird message. Can anyone tell me what it means or why it is happening?

Java was started but return exitcode = 13......
......bla bla bla......

Thank you in advance...

Assuming Windows:

It means you probably don't have a Java home variable set up pointing to the JDK you are currently using. That is the essential problem, that it has no idea where to find the JDK. Just Google how to set up the JDK on Windows.

If you're on a MAC, I have no idea, except you obviously messed up something.

If you're on Linux, sorry I have no idea how to help you and any advice I give would probably be not very helpful or wrong.

On a side note, I would not recommend using Eclipse at all. Use Intellij, it's like Eclipse, but ten times better.

When I have used Eclipse and then copied the project over, half the time it is incredibly broken to the point where I wonder how it is even working. It's comparable to developing on Visual Studio and then trying to the move the C++ project to another IDE. You could be setting yourself up for a series of failures.

Thank you for the replies.

Hello Arjun Patel,

I have uninstalled eclipse.

The JDK is propely located.

Can you send a link to Intellij?

Thank you in advance...
