Android studio on linux

+1 Guy Coombs · February 21, 2015
Hi, I'm trying to use android studio on linux and after downloading software to try and make it work I'm still getting nowhere? Can anyone please tell me how to run this on linux? I'm referring to that error with emulator software not having accelerator. I tried that genymotion and still don't know how this is supposed to resolve it. Has anyone got around that error and run an app?

What linux distro are you using? I know for Ubuntu you can look up Ubuntu Make which makes the setup really easy. I dont know about any other distro.

Follow this to install java https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-java-with-apt-get-on-ubuntu-16-04

Then you should install eclipse from there website.
and then you do this

sudo apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 lib32stdc++6

and go here and download it https://developer.android.com/studio/install.html
then extract and go to the bin folder and open a terminal there and do
./studio.sh
