<script type="text/javascript">
face= new Image(120,120);
head= new Image(120,120);
<a href="#"onmouseover="javascript:document.face.src='photo-1.JPG'"
<img src="photo-2.JPG" name="head" border="1"></a>

this code is meant to turn into another picture when the mouse hovers over it but does not work for me does anyone know why?

 You can use html code to put a image in javascript. You put it in the document.write section.
For an example

do you literally have to put in the path to pic?

function Blue(){
var Pic_on = new image(256, 189)
Pic_on.src = "image.jpg";

This just  tells you were that image is when you use document.write();

document.write(); is just used for testing
i want the image to display

Iv never seen that code. What I mean by place is to put an image in the javascript browser

A scripting language that is added to standard HTML to create interactive effects, apps, games for the browser.
