do you have any CSS associated with your footer

Also, try removing your div tag, and see if the image shows up. If it does, then the problem is with the footer, if not then the problem is probably with img source.

If the image can be opened on your computer then it's not the image.
If you could view the image in the browser then the link to the image is good.
If everything is good above then it just relates back to the site being able to show the image, only through CSS(3)

Cause the html(5) tags are all normal until you change the properties for them using CSS(3).

getting rid of the div tag made no difference. my folder contains my notepad++(which contains both my
html5 and css} and the image I wish to use. it is named correctly. when I try to open the image
from the folder I get:

"window photo viewer can't open this picture because either photo viewer doesn’t support this file format, or you don’t have the latest updates to photo viewer"

ive run the scan Microsoft recommends to no avail but I now believe this is the culprit.

Yea, it's the image then because JPEG or JPG are supported in almost every known/popular software.

it is done! thanks to the people here and some online trouble shooting. thanks to everyones help. im
sure this wont be the only issue I encounter but at least it was overcome.
btw, the problem wasn't having the files in the same folder it was was
microsofts photo editor not working right.

place pic used to desktop(not directly in file, at least yet)
click picture'
when pic is up, right click to "open with" choose ms windows live
phot gallery.
when pic comes up again copy.
paste pic on desktop.
put THAT file into folder.
verify it works
do my happy dance!

hope this helps someone avoid some of the frustrationI encountered
and thanks you everyone.
