I am extremely new to Javascript.  Last week I worked my way through all 40 videos in the Javascript tutorial, and I am very grateful for them.

I have been playing around, and have discovered that I can use document.getElementsByTagName to scan a table and pull in data into an array.  I went for <td> tags, and could then use a for loop to scan for values equaling a specific value.  It worked very well!

I would like to apply this same approach to scan a file on the same domain.  For example, I have http://site.com/file1.html.  I would like to be able to run a script on that page to scan http://site.com/file2.html for <td> tags.  I have seen references to JQuery, but I want to stay away from that for now and stick to Javascript.  I have also seen references to FileReader.  Is that something that can be applied to this situation?

Any suggestions would be most welcome.
