It is a beautiful and clear language with a friendly community.

Try it for beginner:
Programming for Everybody (Python)
https://www.coursera.org/course/pythonlearn

or
Step by step
Python Learn to program in Python
http://www.codecademy.com/ru/tracks/python

Challenge for fun:

I took the course - An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python at coursera during my initial days with python and could vouch that you would learn and enjoy it!

I like https://inventwithpython.com/chapters/

Quite a few simple games to teach Python rather than just dry "this is a function", "this is while loop", etc.
