import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.Menu;
import android.view.MenuItem;
import android.util.Log;

public class MainActivity extends ActionBarActivity {

    private static final String TAG = "myMessage";

    protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        Log.i(TAG, "onCreate");

    protected void onStart() {
        Log.i(TAG, "onStart");

    protected void onResume() {
        Log.i(TAG, "onResume");

    protected void onPause() {
        Log.i(TAG, "onPause");

    protected void onStop() {
        Log.i(TAG, "onStop");

    protected void onRestart() {
        Log.i(TAG, "onRestart");

    protected void onDestroy() {
        Log.i(TAG, "onDestroy");

    protected void onSaveInstanceState(Bundle outState) {
        Log.i(TAG, "onSaveInstanceState");

    protected void onRestoreInstanceState(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        Log.i(TAG, "onRestoreInstanceState");
    public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
        // Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present.
        getMenuInflater().inflate(, menu);
        return true;

    public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) {
        // Handle action bar item clicks here. The action bar will
        // automatically handle clicks on the Home/Up button, so long
        // as you specify a parent activity in AndroidManifest.xml.
        int id = item.getItemId();

        //noinspection SimplifiableIfStatement
        if (id == {
            return true;

        return super.onOptionsItemSelected(item);

I solve my problem.

Like can been see in the picture, I was clicking in the wrong icon. For use the logcat I must select the bug icon botton and not the play botton.
After this operation the logcat works fine.

I have a similar problem and represented by the line of code below.
02-05 21:29:06.770    1678-1678/? I/brunoMessage? onCreate

I think that the problem is related with the "?" mark.
Instead "?" doesn't must appear "com.example.bruno.myapplication"

How I remove that "?" mark?

I just restarted the emulator/ Android Studio and nothing

I had a very similar problem. I restarted the emulator and ran it again. That seemed to have fixed it for me.
