Why is C more popular than C++?

So I've tried to google why c is more popular but I can't seem to find an answer. They're mostly one sided saying that c is only useful in embedded systems. If C++ can do anything c can then why is it always ranked below C?

C++ is still more advance than C but note something that C++ was build from C.......anyway the fact cannot be disputed that C++ is still better but live in the shadow of C

C++ is a much larger language than C, making C the champion embedded programming.

You should not compare C to C++, they are completely different languages.

C++ is a large language and not really easy to learn, I think most people start with C because it's a basic from a lot languages and if you know a lot from C you will pick the other languages (not only C++) also easy up.
