In the forums, I suggest you fix the part that says
"Linux is a free and open source software operating system for computers."
For, it is not an operating system.
A lot of people get it mixed up, but it's not.
Linux is a kernel. There's a HUGE difference.
There's linux-based operating systems, but Linux itself is not an operating system.
For more information, refer to:
Linux is not considered an Operating System

Well you guys are correct for most part. But that's not entirely correct. gnu was the first foundation to support linux but it's not the only one. kde, xfce, lxde and the latest enlightenment are also supporters. gnu's gnome is most popular and widely used. most people also use other desktop environments and tools(softwares). And don't forget the android which also uses linux kernel but not gnome. So it would be good to call it "linux based operating systems and firmwares" to make the topic more broad.
Or "unix based" is also somewhat correct i guess
i may not be correct entirely, but that's my opinion.

True, Linux is not an OS. It's a kernel.
GNU + Linux , however, is an Operating system.
Reading the article you posted above, .. the author didn't mention this, and that is a HUGE thing not to do.
So, instead of changing the description, the only thing that should be fixed is replacing "Linux" with "GNU/Linux".
Tell me what you like about the forum and what sucks about it here.
