What should I use?

So I want to program computer games that don't require you to be connected to the internet. But what language should I use for that? Java, C, one of the variants of C or another programming language?

Pick a language, then choose it. It really doesn't matter.

If you are looking for the preferred language to use for game development, I heard C++ is most common.

Most major games use C++ these days, but I personally think Java or Python are a better bet for a beginner. They both have graphics libraries that are very simple yet powerful (I've used PyGame and the built in Java graphics libraries), and the emphasis on object oriented programming makes things very simple when starting out.

I'm actually working on recoding a simple texted based RPG I did during one of my Java classes a few years ago right this second. :D
