Cannot launch AVD in emulator

+1 jason lapurga · January 26, 2016
Every time I attempt to run an emulator, the follow window pops up:

"Cannot launch AVD in emulator.
Output:
emulator: WARNING: Increasing RAM size to 1 GB
emulator: ERROR x86_64 emulation currently requires hardware acceleration!
Please ensure Intel HAXM is properly installed and usable.
CPU acceleration status: HAX kernel module is not installed!"

The Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator (HAXM installer), rev 6.0.1 in Android SDK is already installed. Other than that I don't know what to do. Any help will do.

I am also getting the same issue however error is not related to RAM size.

Cannot launch AVD in emulator.

CPU acceleration status: HAX kernel module is not installed!

if (hostCPU is Intel) AND (hostBIOS supports graphics acceleration) {
A.S. installation includes HAXM driver from Intel.
}else { A.S. does not install HAXM}

If HAXM is installed it still may not work until you configure the BIOS and run the exe that was downloaded.
If you are running Windows then follow this link.

If your CPU is not Intel then don't use any of the x86 image AVDs.
If your CPU is AMD then use armeabiv7 system image.

One other thing. if you check the use GPU when you configure your device you are directing the AVD to use graphics acceleration. Don't check this if you don't have the BIOS and  driver to support it.

Just wondering how much research you guys did before asking this question. This has been a common problem for the last year or more, people have been constantly asking about it... Do you think there are no answers?
