Hi

I need a do a horizontally medium-width-striped background (much like the ruled paper look) to serve as a background in Blender. Size to be suitably substantial for TV screen. Each vertical stripe will be a moving film strip which I will have to import into Blender (somehow).
Every second stripe's 'film' will move in the same direction (left to right), with every stripe inbetween to move from right to left.

I will then have to re-shape the background into more of a slight concave shape since I will use it to partially surround a plain flat circle which will end up being stuck in centre front of this background.

I do have needs for the circle in centre which will have a thin striped circular frame that has a light (inside the frame itself) which revolves steadily inside it like a current, shifting like the hand of a clock albeit smoothly/fluidly... but will leave that request for later, unless of course anyone thinks giving these instructions are easy?

Anyone care to give a noob instructions on this? Vid instructions? Typed instructions?

Believe it or not, it's my project and I am trying to prove to a work superior as fast as I can that Blender is good for this before they stamp out any chance I have of being able to use it later on.

Grateful for any advice.

Which version of blender are you using? It is different depending on whether you are using 2.5 or 2.49, I believe.

thank you, good luck over seas, where are you headed? i've lived in germany 2 times before. it was a gas. (pm me if ya want since its a bit off topic :) )
i need to learn how to run the scripts in command line so i can find what is my error when i go to select my image and load it into my blender for making 2-d in to 3-d. i have 3 big projects that are hinged on my learning blender.
i should have never waited this long to learn it. time is money.i found some decent sites as well:
http://blenderunderground.com/
http://blendernewbies.blogspot.com/
http://www.ingiebee.com/
some of what i found the other night.
